    Gentle Yoga – A more therapeutic class. Dialed down to a slower pace and intensity. You’ll receive the same instruction on alignment and awareness. Suited for those, returning to physical activity, in recovery, Pre/Postnatal or with special physical considerations. This class is also great for a day off from more vigorous training regimes.

Inspired by the positive impact of my own Yoga practice, I embarked on a profound journey. Pursuing everything Yoga, Health and Wellness, I earned multiple certifications along the way. I began teaching Yoga in 2003 while living in Okinawa, Japan. I follow a lineage that views Yoga as being most effective when it serves your individual needs, goals and abilities. In 2009 I earned my advanced Yoga teacher certification with an emphasis in Yoga Therapy. I am certified through The International Association of Yoga Therapist.  

Dedicated to continuing education, I have attended over 50 Yoga Conferences since 2007. I share this knowledge by mentoring fellow teachers and offering workshops. I am designated by Yoga Alliance as a Continuing Education Provider.

  • Invitation to the Art of Dance: Learn the principles of graceful, fluid movement leading to playful dance expression. This class is a complement for students of Yoga, T’ai Chi, and Awareness Through Movement who would love to dance.   • Awareness Through Movement: teaches—through movement—how we can improve our capabilities to function in our daily lives.  These group lessons are typically simple movements done lying on the floor.  I use my voice to bring your attention to how you move in different parts of yourself and how the different parts relate to one another.  Using variation of these simple movements, you learn to coordinate these parts into a more graceful and powerful whole.

              Bio: I bring all that I know to my work: My early years as a dancer and massage therapist, 40+ years of experience with moving bodies of all shapes and ages, my 30 years as a physical therapist, and my 20 years of teaching the Feldenkrais work, in order to help people find comfort, ease, and power in simple human functions. How we use our bodies and ourselves is the physical picture of our level of well-being and potency. The organization or our skeleton and muscles are as individual as our height, the length and tonus of our muscles, and our history. I currently maintain a lively private practice here in Prescott, treating adults and children using the one on one portion of the Feldenkrais practice, called Functional Integration.  I also teach workshops for Physical Therapists, and Yoga Instructors and students in Washington State, Hawaii, California, and Oregon.

A Music Together center director, owner and teacher since 1999, I have shared the

internationally acclaimed early childhood music program with thousands of AZ families, initially as

Music Together of Scottsdale and now in Northern AZ as Under One Common Sky.

 

Classically and jazz trained, I have composed music for ensembles, dance companies and

documentaries. I was a contributing musician to Jerry Jacka's Emmy award winning

documentary "Beyond Tradition" and the NAMMY award winning CD 'Colors of My Heart' by

Sharon Burch. I have been the flutist-vocalist of the William Eaton Ensemble, a world

fusion quintet, since 1988.

  • Hip Hop Dance Instruction: This class combines the old school styles of the B-Boys of the 80's and 90's with more contemporary styles of hip hop choreography, putting a lot of focus on popping and locking, isolations, and gliding.This class is broken up into two to three sections: warm up, sometimes across the floor movements, and learning and practicing a routine. The warm up includes intense cardio using hip hop style movements, strengthening, and stretching.

Bio:

I have been dancing for 26 years and have been doing hip hop for 18. My parents enrolled me in my first dance class at the age of three and I ran with it. It was in the fifth grade that I took my first hip hop class and instantly fell in love. While I have continued to study ballet, jazz, tap, contemporary and lyrical throughout the years my main focus has always been on hip hop.
 
Two years after taking my first hip hop class I became one of the first members of a strictly hip hop competitive dance team. Over the next five years I traveled the country competing and performing. After graduating high school I spent several years living in different cities around the country studying under different teachers in different settings, and teaching in the community at various schools and dance studios working with students of all ages for the past 7 years.
 
Somehow in the middle of my traveling and dancing I earned my degree in Performing Arts from Prescott College. I have strong belief that knowledge and understanding of, as well as respect for the history and origin of hip hop is just as important as the style of dance itself.

Bio: I was born in the Northeast Indian State of Manipur, not too far from China, where I excelled in dance, drama and classical vocal music. Growing up, I sensed my destiny to bring the healing traditions of both South and East Asia to the West.

After completing an intensive course of study in the theory and practice of Yoga, I received certification to teach Yoga by SVYASA (Swami Vivekananda's famous university in South India). I also studied for ten years in the Phoenix area, and achieved Certification to teach Tai Chi and Qigong.

The benefits of Tai Chi are much more than simply to improve balance, gain muscle strength, increase flexibility, and to avoid falls. Ultimately, Tai Chi leads the sincere practitioner to a discovery of their true center: psychologically, physically and spiritually. It leads to being one with nature and the hidden source of power in the universe.
