Jazz Fusion pianist and composer Dr. Kaveh Karandish performing live in Elks' Theatre.


Kaveh was born in 1976 in Shiraz; the Persian city of poetry & music. He started keyboard and piano studies at an early age. At age 17 he was deeply touched by the magical combination of piano, bass and drums of some contemporary recording and music became an important part of his life ever since. After years of classical piano as a teenager and winning numbers of piano competitions, he revealed his love and passion for creating by composing orchestral music with grandiose ambitions. After immigrating to California at age 23, he devoted much of his time to studying composition, orchestration & film music at different music institutions including Cal-state Long Beach.For more info please visitwww.kavehpiano.com.

Kaveh's brother Maz Karandish will be also featured in this concert. A multi instrumentalist from Santa Barbara, CA.
Maz Karandish is a devotee of music: A vocalist and multi-instrumentalist covering grounds from Raga, Maqam, and Dastgah to Harmony, Jazz, and Opera. He has been studying music from a very young age and has spent extensive time exploring world music within each of their respective traditions over the past two decades. Maz utilizes his voice in addition to about a dozen instruments to bring the
various forms of music to life. He is currently most active in exploring the sitar as it is expressed and understood within the Imdad-Khani tradition while maintaining his connection to his roots through Persian Classical and Folk music.


Sonia Ochoa is the dancer of the group. Plus Eric Zang and Farzin Farhadi. Two world class musicians on Cajon and Saxophone.
